ACADEMIC RESEARCH IN ARCHITECTURE

1. Diploma Thesis

Reinterpretations of Antiquity | The Harmonic Proportions of Music in Architecture (In Progress)

ENSAPM – NTUA Department of Architectural Engineering – Supervisor: Prof. Panagiotis Tournikiotis

This thesis explores the interdisciplinary relationship between music, architecture, and archaeology, focusing on the application of the principles of musical harmony to the mathematical proportions and geometry of ancient architectural structures, with a case study on the Parthenon of the Acropolis of Athens.

2. Diploma Thesis | Grade : (10/10)

Mycènes Futurs antérieurs | Melodies Transformed into Space

Department of Architectural Engineering, University of Patras– Supervisor: Aikaterini A. Liapi

This thesis reimagines the archaeological landscape of Mycenae through a phenomenological and interdisciplinary lens, integrating musical harmony into architectural design. Inspired by Iannis Xenakis’ Mycenae Alpha, the research analyzes the compositional logic of its graphical score—focusing on harmonic ratios such as 2/3 and the golden ratio—to generate a new spatial path that reconnects overlooked Mycenaean monuments. Through this approach, the project seeks to recompose the fragmented historical landscape into a unified, sensory architectural experience.

3. Research Thesis | Grade : (10/10)

Rhythm Analysis | From Music to Architecture

Department of Architectural Engineering, University of Patras– Supervisor: Aikaterini A. Liapi

The investigation of the relationship between Μusic and Αrchitecture and their emergence in the compositional and design procedure. Drawing on Lefebvre’s rhythmanalysis, Pythagorean harmonic ratios, and Renaissance proportional theories, it explores how musical structures can inform spatial design. Through historical, mathematical, and phenomenological lenses, the research examines how music can be transfigured into architectural space, proposing rhythm as both a conceptual and experiential tool for the creation of new spatial narratives.

4. Research Thesis | Grade : (10/10)

Past-Futures Representations of the Propylaia of the Acropolis of Athens

NTUA Department of Architectural Engineering – Supervisor: Panagiotis Tournikiotis

This study explores the narrative potential of the Propylaia of the Acropolis of Athens. By analyzing the ruins as carriers of fragmented historical narratives, it examines the interplay between memory, temporality, and space, uncovering new interpretations of their architectural and symbolic significance.

5. Research Thesis | Grade : (10/10)

The Poetics of Time in Cinema

NTUA School of Architecture – Supervisor: Stavros Stavridis

The investigation of the temporal structure of Chris Marker’s La Jetée, exploring how its unique format as a photographic film reconstructs time through narrative techniques and montage, offering a multilayered and subjective spatiotemporal experience.

6. Research Thesis | Grade : (10/10)

Renaissance Formulation and Perspective Methods | The Symbolic Dimensions of the Landscape

NTUA School of Architecture – Supervisor: Prof. Konstantinos Moraitis

The examination of the landscape as a symbolic and structured space rich in meanings that reflect social and cultural values. It explores perspective and the process of formulation, approaching the landscape as a cultural and social phenomenon shaped by human activity, artistic trends, and political influences.

7. Research Thesis | Grade : (10/10)

The Poetical Transfiguration of Architecture
Department of Architectural Engineering, University of Patras – Supervisor: A. Spanomaridis

A dual-part thesis investigating the poetic and unconscious dimensions of architectural creation. The first part explores the invisible and intuitive processes within architectural design, framing composition as a subconscious act of expression. The second, titled Diaplasis, focuses on the pre-historical and biographical nature of the landscape, proposing a design methodology that uncovers its latent meanings beyond linear historical time.

ARCHITECTURAL AND CONCEPT DESIGN PROJECTS

1. Architectural Design Project  | Grade : (10/10)

Shaping the Coastine | Architecture and Wave Energy Fusion.

Department of Architectural Engineering, University of Patras. Supervisor: D.Giannisis

Design of a floating urban structure integrating wave energy infrastructure along the coast of Patras. The project addresses the threat of rising sea levels and proposes a resilient extension of the city’s mobility and energy networks.

2. Architectural Design Project | Grade : (10/10)

Eleusis | A Spatial Narrative of Time.

Department of Architectural Engineering, NTUA National Technical University of Athens, Supervisor: Evanthia Xenou

This project investigates the spatial and symbolic dual identity of Eleusis through narrative design. Inspired by the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, the proposal envisions a promenade that reconstructs the fragmented memory of the city into a multisensory experience, by weaving together myth, history and imagination.

3. Architectural Design Project  | Grade : (10/10)

Bridging the Past | Connecting Olympia’s Ancient Roots with its Urban Future.

Department of Architectural Engineering, University of Patras. Supervisor: Alkistis Rodi

Light architectural intervention bridging the Alfeios riverbanks near Ancient Olympia. The design proposes a three-level installation to reconnect the archaeological site with its contemporary urban context.

4. Concept Design Project for a Site-Specific VR Installation | Grade : (10/10)

Visualising the Voice of Maria Callas.

Foyer of the Greek National Opera – SNFCC and the Digital Media Lab (DmLab) of the Technical University of Crete Explores the architectural embodiment of Maria Callas’ voice using spatial tracings of vocal dynamics translated into immersive VR geometry. The installation creates an acoustic-architectural dialogue in the foyer of the Opera.
